ไมโครซอฟท์จับมือยาฮูในตลาด IM

ก่อนหน้านี้ไมโครซอฟท์และยาฮูเคยประกาศถึงการเตรียมให้ความร่วมมือที่จะเชื่อมเครือข่ายทั้งสองเข้าหากัน ในวันนี้กระบวนการเริ่มต้นของการรวมตัวก็กำลังเดินหน้า เมื่อ Messenger 6.0 สำหรับเครื่องแมคที่น่าจะเปิดให้ดาวน์โหลดในวันนี้จะสามารถเริ่มรายชื่้อใน Contact List จากผู้ใช้บริการ Yahoo! Messenger ได้

การร่วมมือกันครั้งนี้ หลายฝ่ายระบุว่าเป็นความพยายามในการโค่นยักษ์อย่าง AOL ที่เป็นผู้ให้บริการ IM รายใหญ่ที่สุดในตลาด โดยผู้ใช้อยู่ถึง 53 ล้านราย ขณะที่ไมโครซอฟท์และยาฮูนั้นมีผู้ใช้อยู่ที่ 27 และ 22 ล้านรายตามลำดับ

ในยุคแรกสมัยที่ไมโครซอฟท์ต้องการเจาะเข้ามายังตลาด IM ใหม่ๆ นั้นไมโครซอฟท์เคยพยายามให้โปรแกรมของตนเชื่อมต่อไปยังเครือข่ายของ AOL อยู่หลายครั้ง แต่ถูกทาง AOL บล็อกจนไมโครซอฟท์ตัดสินใจสร้่างเครือข่ายของตนเองในที่สุด

เปิดตัวมาได้ปีกว่าแล้ว สำหรับโปรแกรมสื่อสารข้อความที่เน้นการใช้เสียงเป็นหลักของกูเกิ้ล ซึ่งในตอนแรกผู้ที่จะใช้งาน Google Talk จำเป็นต้องมีอีเมลของจีเมล (ที่ในตอนแรกก็หายากเสียเหลือเกิน.. เห็นว่าช่วงนี้ สามารถ Gmail ผ่านทางมือถือของเราได้แล้ว โดยไม่ต้องรอ Invitation email จากผู้ที่มี Gmail Account อยู่แล้วครับ ดีจัง..^^) ถึงจะใช้งานได้

แต่ตอนนี้ทางกูเกิ้ลได้เปิดให้บุคคลทั่วไปที่ไม่ได้ใช้จีเมล สามารถลงทะเบียนบัญชีผู้ใช้ของกูเกิ้ล เพื่อใช้งาน Google Talk ได้นับแต่บัดนี้

คนใช้ Google Talk เป็นหลักจะได้มีเพื่อนมาคุยเยอะขึ้นเสียที
